Real life is beautiful.

This collection of photographs reflects my commitment to authentic storytelling. Here, I share some of the timeless moments that I have been invited to experience and preserve. My images are born from real relationships and real weddings. To me, this is true beauty.

Weddings are sacred.

Your wedding is the union of all that is most meaningful to you. Together, you will express your love, dedication, faith and style with your family, friends and future generations. It is a great honor to be entrusted with your memories.

Photojournalism is my approach.

My mission is to document the emotions, details and unexpected moments that naturally unfold. The art of photojournalism lies in the photographer's ability to sensitively and creatively capture the spirit and beauty of life.

Real life is beautiful.
This shared approach to enduring, refined photography grew a
natural kinship between
Susie and Sharlane. This continues to define their philosophy and mission.

Weddings are sacred.
The culmination of courtship,
the dawn of deeper commitment and a celebration of love, faith and personality. Susie and Sharlane recognize the great honor it is to be entrusted with the gift of
documenting these memories.

My approach

Using my background in photojournalism and an intuition for seeing the loveliest potential in each interaction, I discreetly orchestrate the wedding day coverage. I strive to present a timeless art unaffected by fads in photography, and embody a deep held belief that wedding photojournalism should be
not only candid but beautiful.

My journey

It began in the South. I spent my childhood in Memphis and my twenties in Virginia and Georgia. Here I inherited the ideals of gentility, chivalry and hospitality.
My exploration of the northwest began in 1999, where I sought to combine my loves of photography, nature and humanity.
In 2000, I pursued my master's degree in photojournalism at the University of Montana's esteemed School of Journalism and began my professional photography career. Seattle became my home in 2002. Two years later, I married my beau, Paul,
a gentle spirit and an environmental scientist with whom I have the blessing of discovering the world and its endless delights.

My approach

I photograph weddings because I absolutely love them! Each wedding is a new opportunity to create a work of art. The fact that I am graciously welcomed into this amazing day in your life makes my job the best in the world.
Timeless, elegant and romantic. This is my goal for your wedding photographs. It is my hope that your grandchildren will look at your images and find them stunning and full of emotion. I love looking at the wedding photographs of Jacqueline Bouvier and John Kennedy or Princess Grace and Prince Rainier, and I marvel at how beautiful the images look even today. There is nothing trendy or dated about them; classic and gorgeous.

My journey

I was born in British Columbia were I received degrees in art and photography. My love of travel and photography took me to London and Tokyo where I freelanced for renowned fashion and editorial photographers such as Tetsuya Miura and Michael Harvey. I moved my photography business to Seattle in 2004. With my international background and love of design, I founded
Urban Unveiled in 2006 to provide couples and event coordinators with a stylish and sophisticated wedding planning event featuring Seattle's premier wedding artists.
